Our Approach
We build and update the site with accessibility in mind and treat it as ongoing work, not a box we have ticked. We do not claim that every page meets any particular standard. What we can promise is that we take reports seriously and fix the problems people tell us about.
What the Site Does
- Clear page structure. Pages are built with semantic HTML. Each page has one main heading with labeled sections beneath it, so screen reader users can move from section to section.
- Text alternatives. Event and venue photos carry alternative text that describes what they show. Purely decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
- Keyboard navigation. Menus, links, buttons and the RSVP and contact forms can be used with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a visible outline on the item that has focus.
- Labeled forms. Form fields have labels, and the optional phone field and the age confirmation checkbox say what they are for.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, the site turns off nonessential animation.
- Phones and zoom. Pages work at phone, tablet and desktop widths, and text can be enlarged without the layout breaking.
Where the Site May Fall Short
No website gets everything right. Photos from busy mixers can only be summarized in alternative text. Our Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Meetup and Eventbrite pages, and venue websites we link to, are run by other companies, and their accessibility is up to them. When we find a barrier on our own pages, we fix it.
Report a Problem
If something on the site is hard to use with your setup, email singlesmingleca@gmail.com. It helps to include the page address, what you were trying to do, what happened, and the browser or assistive technology you use. Adeline reads every message and passes site problems to our web team to fix.
If the RSVP Form Gives You Trouble
Do not let a form stand between you and a night out. Email singlesmingleca@gmail.com with your name and the mixer you want to attend from the events calendar, and Adeline will help you RSVP. You can also reach her through the contact page.
Questions About a Venue
Mixers are held at independent bars, breweries, wineries, hotels and other venues that Singles Mingle does not own or run, so step-free entry, seating, restrooms, lighting and noise vary from place to place. If you would like to know more about a venue before you go, email singlesmingleca@gmail.com and Adeline will help you find the details or put you in touch with the right person.
