Sunday Afternoons Suit This Crowd
Late nights are not everyone's idea of fun, and they do not have to be. Our 50 & Up mixers have tended toward Sunday afternoon and early evening slots, in windows like 3 to 6 PM or 5 to 8 PM. That timing has a lot going for it. You can drive there in daylight, still be home for dinner, and wake up Monday feeling fine.
An afternoon mixer also changes the feel of the room. The music is not competing with you, the energy is warm instead of frantic, and it is easy to settle into a real conversation without raising your voice. If you have avoided singles events because you pictured a packed nightclub, a Sunday wine bar afternoon is a very different experience.
Of course, life does not always follow a pattern. Some 50 & Up dates may land on other days, and the exact time is always listed on the event page.
50 & Up Venues in Danville and Pleasanton
So far, 50 & Up mixers have been held at these Tri-Valley spots:
- Barnyard Epicurean Wine Bar in Danville, which has hosted several 50 & Up nights
- Cellar Door in Pleasanton, which hosted a 50 & Up mixer in August with $10 at the door
Both towns sit along the I-680 corridor, which makes them reachable from much of the East Bay and the Tri-Valley without crossing a bridge. Pleasanton also has a BART station, and you can read more about the area on our Pleasanton singles events page. If you live closer to Walnut Creek, Livermore or Concord, the cities page rounds up what is happening nearby.
Singles in Their Sixties and Beyond
50 is the minimum age, so every 50 & Up night is open to singles in their sixties, seventies and beyond. Age editions exist to give you a crowd closer to your stage of life. They never exist to tell you where you cannot go, and you are always welcome at our flagship 21 & Up mixers too.
The easiest way to catch the next 50 & Up date is to check the events calendar, which is updated every week. You can also follow along on Instagram or TikTok at @singles_mingle_ca, in the Singles Mingle Facebook group, or on Meetup and Eventbrite.
If It Has Been a While Since You Dated
Maybe you were married for a long stretch. Maybe you spent a decade focused on work or family, or you tried the apps and found them exhausting. Getting back out there can feel strange at any age, and that is completely normal. A mixer is one of the gentler ways to start, because it asks very little of you. You do not need a clever bio or flattering photos. You just need to walk in and say hello.
There is also no expectation that every conversation turns romantic. Plenty of good things start as a friendly chat over a glass of wine: a new friend to catch a show with, a walking buddy, or someone who later becomes more. Adeline Farrer started Singles Mingle to give singles a real place to meet face-to-face, and that matters just as much at fifty or sixty as it does at thirty. If you want to read more about her reasons, the about page tells the story.
Coming alone is fine. Every mixer is held at a public venue, and you can look for the Singles Mingle host when you arrive and say hello.
