Where LGBTQ+ Mixers Have Been Held
So far this year, LGBTQ+ nights have landed on both sides of the bay and down into the South Bay:
- San Francisco: DecoDance in April
- Oakland: Oakland United Brewing in May
- San Jose: Mexico Lindo in May and again in July, then The Willow Den in August
- Berkeley: Cellarmaker in June
- Sunnyvale: Fuego Night Club in July
- Newark: O'Sullivans Sport Bar in September
- Livermore: Rebel Kitchen & Libations in October
That spread is intentional. A single person in Newark should not have to cross a bridge every month to meet people, and someone living in the city should get a night close to home too. By rotating the location, we try to put an LGBTQ+ mixer within easy reach of as many people as possible over the course of a few months. You can see what each area looks like on its own page, including San Francisco, Berkeley, Sunnyvale, Newark and Livermore.
Why These Nights Feel Easy
At an ordinary bar, half the effort of meeting someone is guessing. Is this person single? Are they interested in people like me? Is this even the kind of place where a conversation with a stranger is welcome? An LGBTQ+ singles mixer takes most of that guesswork off the table before you walk in. The room is set up for LGBTQ+ singles who want to talk, so saying hello is the expected thing rather than a gamble.
That does not mean the night has a heavy agenda. Nobody is assigning you partners or moving you along on a timer, because Singles Mingle does not do speed dating. You mingle at your own pace. You might spend an hour with one person, or bounce between a few small groups, or end up laughing at the bar with someone who becomes a friend instead of a date. All of those outcomes count as a good night.
Adeline Farrer, who founded Singles Mingle and hosts the mixers, started this whole thing because she wanted fewer people stuck swiping alone and more people actually meeting. That goal reaches every corner of our community, and the LGBTQ+ nights are one of the clearest expressions of it.
A Monthly Rhythm You Can Plan Around
Because LGBTQ+ mixers come up roughly monthly, they are easy to work into your routine. Like our other events, they tend to fall on Friday and Saturday evenings or on Sunday afternoons and early evenings, usually in a three hour window. A typical evening slot might be 7 to 10 PM, while a Sunday slot is more likely 4 to 7 PM. The event page lists the exact time, venue and entry for each night.
The calendar is updated every week, so it is worth checking back if the next LGBTQ+ date is not posted yet. In between, you are always welcome at our flagship 21 & Up singles mixers, which happen several times a week across the region. If you would like a crowd closer to your stage of life, the 35 & Up and 50 & Up editions are open to you as well.
RSVP Once, Then Just Show Up
RSVPing is quick. Open the event, enter your name and email (phone is optional), and you'll get a confirmation email. That RSVP is free and simply lets Adeline know to expect you. Most mixers are free entry. When a night does have a door price, it is shown on the event page, and you pay at the venue. There is no online payment.
Coming alone is fine, and it can be a surprisingly easy way to find your footing in a new social circle. Every mixer is held at a public venue.
