An LGBTQ+ Night Close to Home
In September, O'Sullivans Sport Bar in Newark hosted an LGBTQ+ singles mixer. The idea was simple: give LGBTQ+ singles in Newark and nearby towns a relaxed place to meet each other face-to-face, without a long drive or a late BART ride home.
The format matches every other Singles Mingle night. You RSVP free, show up, and mingle. There are no rounds and no scorecards. Look for the Singles Mingle host if you want a friendly first hello; otherwise the evening happens on its own. Some people come to date. Some come to make friends. Both are welcome.
LGBTQ+ mixers happen roughly monthly around the region, and the location changes each time. Newark will not host every one, but it has been part of the rotation. The LGBTQ+ singles mixers page explains how these nights work and where they have landed so far.
O'Sullivans Sport Bar on the Newark Calendar
O'Sullivans Sport Bar is where Newark mixers have happened in 2026. Before the September LGBTQ+ night, it hosted a regular mixer in May.
The default Singles Mingle night is 21 & Up with no cover. Some editions around the Bay Area are planned for a particular crowd, such as 35 & Up or 50 & Up, and a few are $10 at the door. Every event page says which edition it is and whether there is a fee, so you never have to guess. You can read about that standard night on the 21 & Up mixers page.
Getting there is easy if you live nearby. Newark has I-880 running along its eastern side and Highway 84 heading west over the Dumbarton Bridge toward the Peninsula. That bridge puts Newark within reach of Peninsula singles, too. Newark has no BART station of its own, so riders usually come in from one of the nearby stations and take a short ride from there. Thornton Avenue, Cedar Boulevard and Mowry Avenue are the main roads you will use, and NewPark Mall is a familiar landmark if you are new to the area.
If Newark is quiet on a given month, nearby options are not far. Hayward has hosted at Storybook, Milpitas at Big Al's, and San Jose has a busy calendar of its own a little farther south.
