Hayward Sits in the Middle of the Map
Look at a map of the East Bay and Hayward lands right in the center. I-880 runs along the flatlands toward Oakland in one direction and San Jose in the other. I-580 climbs over the hills toward Pleasanton and Livermore. Highway 92 heads west from Hayward across the San Mateo Bridge to the Peninsula.
BART covers the town too. Hayward station sits near downtown, close to B Street and City Hall, and South Hayward station serves the south end of town along Mission Boulevard. From either one you can ride north toward San Leandro and Oakland or south toward Milpitas and San Jose.
That is a long way of saying you have options. A mixer in Oakland, Newark or San Leandro is a realistic Friday plan for most people here, and it gets easier once you know which road or train to take.
Storybook and the September Mixer
Hayward's own 2026 mixer so far was at Storybook in September. Like most Singles Mingle nights, the format is simple: no program, no rounds, and no pressure. You walk in, say hello to whoever is nearby, and the rest happens the old-fashioned way, by talking.
When the next Hayward date is added, it will show up on this page and on the events calendar at the same time. The calendar is updated every week, so it is worth a look now and then.
Short Trips to Nearby Mixers
While you wait for the next Hayward night, here is what has been happening close by.
North on BART or I-880, Oakland's 2026 nights have included Brix Factory Brewing, Oakland United Brewing and Mad Oak. Closer still, San Leandro has a mixer on the calendar at Danny Murry's Irish Pub for November 12. Both are covered on the Oakland mixers and San Leandro mixers pages.
South on I-880, Newark has had mixers at O'Sullivans Sport Bar in May and an LGBTQ+ night there in September. You can read more on the Newark mixers page. Keep going and Milpitas has hosted at Big Al's.
