Lafayette BART and the Highway 24 Corridor
Lafayette station sits on BART's Yellow Line, one stop west of Walnut Creek. From downtown Oakland the ride runs through the Berkeley Hills, and from San Francisco it is a straight trip with no transfer. That is a real gift on a mixer night, because nobody has to worry about parking or who is driving home.
If you are coming by car, Highway 24 runs right through town. From the Oakland side you come through the Caldecott Tunnel and over the hills. From Walnut Creek and the I-680 corridor you head west for a few minutes. Mount Diablo Boulevard is the main street through downtown, lined with restaurants, shops and the kind of patios people actually linger on.
Before you head out, open the event page for the exact address and start time. Expect about three hours; the September mixer, for example, ran 6 to 9 PM on a Friday.
The Lafayette Park Hotel Mixer
The Lafayette Park Hotel hosted the town's mixer in September. A hotel is a comfortable setting for a first time. Hotel bars are built for people meeting up, and a hotel night gives you a grown-up excuse to put on a nice shirt and get out of the house on a weekend.
September was a general 21 & Up night rather than an age edition, so every grown-up single in and around Lafayette had a reason to come. The singles mixers page explains that flagship format. If you would feel more comfortable with a crowd closer to your stage of life, the singles events over 35 and over 50 pages cover the age editions, including the 50 & Up nights nearby in Danville.
Lafayette and the Towns Over the Hill
Lafayette shares these hills with a couple of smaller neighboring towns, and none of them has hosted a Singles Mingle mixer yet, so Lafayette is the natural meeting point for the whole area. Those neighbors are a quick drive to the south or just a few minutes west on 24.
The hills cut both ways, though. A Lafayette mixer is also easy for singles in Rockridge and Montclair coming through the tunnel, and for people in Walnut Creek and Concord coming west. It is a little like a crossroads for the inner East Bay.
Want more options nearby? The Walnut Creek singles events page has the Renaissance Hotel and Headlands Brewery one stop away, and the Oakland singles events page has breweries and an LGBTQ+ night a few stops west. For the whole region, see the cities page.
